Pattern Generator

Determine the pattern and then drag pieces to continue.  Includes the What?  How?  and Why? and additional resources to support this area of study.

Create a Pattern

Arrange colors to complete the pattern

 Sequencer

This activity allows the user to create multiple sequences by varying the following values: Starting Number: The first number in the sequence. Multiplier: The number by which the preceding element of the sequence will be multiplied. Add-on: The number that is added to the preceding number (after it has been multiplied by the multiplier) to obtain the next number in the sequence. A given element of the sequence is obtained by multiplying the preceding number by the multiplier, and then adding the add-on. A graph of the resulting sequence and a list of the elements of the sequence are displayed in the applet.

Select options from two to ten items and or colors to create a variety of spinners.

Exploring Properties of Rectangles and Parallelograms

Manipulate the dynamic rectangle and parallelogram below by dragging the corners (vertices) and sides (edges). You can rotate or stretch the shapes, but they will retain particular features. What is alike about all the figures produced by the dynamic rectangle? What is alike about all the figures produced by the dynamic parallelogram? What common characteristics do parallelograms and rectangles share? How do rectangles differ from other parallelograms?
